From McCormick to Tek Wars

I’ve been watching the videos by DoubleReelTV lately, a channel devoted to shining the light on 80s and 90s TV shows and their history.

Lots of these I never heard of, like Riptide, Stingray, Wiseguy, and Golden Hawk. Interesting stuff. There’s a good chunk of American TV that was produced to advertise its domestic auto industry. At least, that’s what it looks like. Revisiting Hardcastle and McCormick and Equalizer is fun. The channel talks about creative differences behind the scenes, lawsuits, and bad decisions by the cable network.

Worth a look if you’re into media history or want to chuckle at 80s and 90s fashion style and low cost special FX.

Another channel dwelling in the past is Majuular, but it’s more video game centric. Nevertheless, check out his Tek War retrospective. Some hilarious scriptwriting, as well as bad video game design.
