Aww man, another week comes to an end. Almost. I mean, work week. After 3 PM on a Thursday it’s nothing but fun and games for good ole Rowini! Time to golf, sauna, and ride a motorcycle up a mountain. And maybe talk about Korean movies? Hmm?

Mantis

Good thing I watched at least two this week! The first one was Mantis, made in 2025, I believe. Starts out good, with two hitmen complaining about ageism and not finding work after 50. Then it gets ha-ha funny and brutal. This is one of those we’re super brutal but also funny movies. I lasted 10 minutes. I didn’t care about the top assassin’s relationship status or banter with his friends. Give me some action! Those K-movies always start out good, then you have to wait two hours until shit hits the fan…

The Witch: Part 1 - The Subversion

… like in this one. The film lulls you in for 90 mins until shit pops off. But then it’s good. For 30 more minutes. Honestly, not bad. Escaped kid with superhuman powers finds foster family. Then the organisation tracks her down. Hilarity ensues. I only found out about this because there is a sequel, Part 1 was made back in 2018. The sequel was made in… 2022? Oh wait, I thought it’s new. Whatever.

Genesis GV60 Magma Edition

The posh edition of the Ioniq 5 now gets an upgraded Ioniq 5 N-inspired version for the Nürburgring. Wowza. Looks cool. I mean, that orange pops. Wonder how they’ll differentiate it from the Ioniq 5 N, my guess is they’ll artificially throttle the output of the Ioniq for future releases, giving you full engine power only with the Genesis. Or something along those lines. I mean, it’ll be more expensive, so they’ll have to justify it somehow.

The A-Team (1983), Season 1 Pilot

The year is 1983, Reagan has been President for two years, and the people yearn for an action series with a unique cast of characters and plenty of action. In comes the A-Team! I always avoided this show because I thought it looked dumb. Don’t get me wrong, Mr. T looked cool. If I could get reborn as anyone, it would be as a buff black dude with a mohawk.
Alas, the pilot for season 1 did turn out to be kind of dumb. Me no likey. It proves that you can really upgrade a mediocre storyline with an interesting cast of characters, but still. Eh. The jokes are dumb, the violence… it’s dumb. Dumb show for dumbos. Cool that those Mexican villagers couldn’t figure out how to organize before the Gringos showed them.

Black Friday is coming up

Make sure to check Steam for sales for vidja. I’ll look out for Bionic Bay, a very atmospheric and good-looking puzzle platformer about a guy that’s in some facility. Full of traps and machines. Check it out.

AI gets another upgrade

Google’s Micro Nana Banana has been released, and its images are impressive. Not bad. Also it’s not called Nana Banana, I’m just not looking that shit up now. I’ve recently seen some artwork made with open source AI tools, and with each new version it’s getting harder to tell apart from the real thing. Where will this all end? No more work for graphic designers and the likes? Who knows. I mean that’s what the industry would like to see. More slop for the slop god. Maybe it will lead to revolt, and we’ll finally get our space communism.
