Fartacular Twenty-Five - R30 Issue #5

Margot Robbie next to a bottle of Chanel No 5. One of the most read stories on Wallpaper in 2024. But did you know that Chanel No 5 was the result of a mistake? Read more in this week’s edition of the R30 newsletter.

Too much aldehyde in version number 5. Which Coco picked, because it reminded her of her time in the convent.

But it is no match for another olfactory experience, orgasm even. Harley Quinn Fartacular: Silent Butt Deadly #1 appears on March 26. The movie adaptation of the titular heroine starred Margot Robbie. Coincidence? We’ll see if this one gets a movie, hopefully with Margot’s buttcheeks providing the soundtrack.

You know there’s another artist who uses her gastrointestinal state for entertainment? That’s right, it’s Ilse in my story Rowini und die Bröselburg, which you can buy in the shop.

But enough about farts. What about AI? Artificial Intelligence, as they call it. Looks like Youtube has some handy new features, including the ability to let AI commment on your own videos. Too lazy to write a reply to your fans? Pick machine-crafted prose that totally makes sense. Or not. Don’t like Youtube, but you spend a lot of time on Facebook? Not to worry, as artificial bots will soon delight you with their own stories about life… and shit. That being said, the current progress of AI video is really not that bad. I am impressed. Even if they ripped off Spongebob. Who needs artists? Popeye and Tintin will enter the public domain this year, so get ready for some animated AI slop featuring those two.

Pagani. It’s a car! More specifically the Pagani Utopia, a V-12 with 852 brake horsepower provided by Mercedes-AMG. Pagani itself was founded by an argentinian designer who previously worked for Lamborghini, if I recall correctly. The cars are assembled in Modena, Italy, and you can get your utopian dream starting at €2 million. If you’re broke and just want to look at four-wheeled vehicles, check out the Lowrider exhibition at the Peterson Automotive Museum in LA. Goes until April.

Or maybe buy a chair? Take a look at the top 10 chairs of 2024, and pick one for under €2 million. Personally I like the Mosso one.

If you’re good-looking but broke, definitely don’t move to Berlin. The ‘poor and sexy’ times are over, writes Fatma Aydemir in the Guardian. Cultural budgets are getting slashed everywhere, left and right. It’s like the fascists already won, Fatma says. I mean yeah that’s where it’s going. But art solely getting created by ‘rich kid artists’? Hasn’t it been like that for a while?

K-Pop. A veteran stylist shows some of the outfits current-day idols are wearing. Size 44 Xtra-Small? Good thing Elon Musk’s Twitter/x hasn’t clamped down on communities for eating disorders. Everyone else has, but the free-speech absolutist is too cheap for moderation.

That’s it for this week. Support me by buying something from the shop, or share this newsletter among your friends and enemies. Happy New Year!
