Restomod me into quantum physics

Time has past, summer has come… and I’m trying to remember what I watched and listened to these past few weeks, so I have another post about media consumption.

Ah, well. Let me think. Jazz - no. Hip-Hop - no. Electronic music - yes, kinda? Idk, there was something else. K-Pop comeback - I featured that two posts ago. Oh, wait. I watched

Stranger Things Season 5

Yeah, it’s not listening, but it impressed me. Did it? Well, I did watch it at 1.5x and 2x speed after episode 3. I don’t have time to watch all this crap. Also, watching it at faster speeds adds a comic element that makes it more funny. Was a bit miffed it was about Vecna, again, hoped the fight would be against a Lovecraftian inter-dimensional monster. Well it was, in the end. For a short time. But not a planet-sized tentacle-monster threatening Earth or anything. Lame. BTW, there’s a boxed D&D set with a Stranger Things theme, so you can play (that’s my guess) all the campaigns that got featured over the seasons. Very cool! The artwork is era-appropriate as well, iirc.

Star Trek Voyager: Season 1

Watched it in Italian, really nice. People talk slow, there’s no hectic cuts, and the story makes sense and is well written. Most of the time. Perfect for learning a language! I did not watch the whole season, just the first three episodes. Really good Trek. If you don’t like the first three episodes, you might as well skip Trek in the 90s. The Caretaker is a cool double-feature, and Parallax explores quantum physics to the point where I think it might be too demanding for today’s audiences. The puzzle of the episode is built around time anomalies in quantum space, not sure that sounds like a hit to contemporary network execs. But who knows. Maybe nerd shit will make a comeback. Cattle Decapitation

I keep coming back to this band. My favourite new Metal band? New to me, I mean. Yes, why not. They’re cool.

Miles Davis in the 70s and 80s

A while back I bought a bunch of Miles Davis stuff from his later years, but haven’t come around to listening to it yet. Will try to change this. Bitches Brew was one of my favourite Jazz records in my teens, but I’m more curious about his final output now.

Kendrick Lamar and Lupe Fiasco

I dipped my toes into contemporary Hip-Hip a while ago, and my favourite acts were easily Lamar and Fiasco. Lamar is probably my all-time favourite, but Fiasco’s lyrics deserve a re-listen.

That new mummy film

Only saw the first five minutes, and determined I want to see it at a better bitrate without ads by Indian gambling sites. Ahem. No, it looks cool, hope to see it on an official streaming site soon.

Religion

Continued my reading of the Old Testament, using an app on my phone. It’s pretty cool. Every day you read through three short excerpts, and after a year, you’re done. I’ve still got a hundred days to go. But I also started five years ago.

The Persian Empire

Finished my watch-through of the Persian Empire episode by Fall of Civilizations. I hope that’s the channel name, on Youtube. It was pretty cool, well made. Didn’t know Alexander the Great’s final move was to march his army through the Pakistani desert, for no apparent rational reason. Two thirds of his men died. When he finally reached Babylon, he too died of a weakened state likely because of the desert march.

Incan Empire is next, and there’s also this documentary about the American Revolutionary War I mean to watch (by Ken Burns).

Cars

The guys who brought us a restomod of the Lancia Rally 37 have done it again. The Kimera K39 looks amazing. If I had money, I’d buy their first model and wrap it in the classic Campari livery. Correction: The K39 is not a restomod, but a unique production car. With an engine supplied by Koenigsegg. Still looks cool. Bye!
